I don't see why you want to go against the industry naming convention that everyone uses. What Export does is different than what other programs do when they Save/Save as. There is a reason, I think, why Lightroom, ACDSee, Aftershot Pro, and darktable all do Export instead of Save/Save as. All of these are programs that do the same things (raw processor + non-destructive editor + DAM) and they all do Export, not Save/Save as. Lightroom, ACDSee, Aftershot Pro, and darktable all do Export. Robert Huttons YouTube videos even though they are 4 years old, still show the basics of darktable in a easy to understand way.Įxport is the standard way, not Save/Save as. But the online user manual is very clear. Sorry I can't recommend any specific beginner video. Plenty of videos are available, but most of them are advanced. To me the approach smacks of a certain elitism which says 'I understand & use computers in a superior way to the norm, so get used to it' Perhaps I am getting old but why abandon such terms as 'Save' & 'Save as' with the ability to call up the required folder made easy? Darktable is, of course, not the only product guilty of this. I don't think that being different just for the sake of it makes a program more liked, rather it just puts people off. It is very difficult to save ( export ) a file as there is no obvious way to do this unlike other programs which make this easy. Darktable seems to be a very capable program but it is hostile to inexperienced users.
